Body Language: Where does Sties originate?

Body Language: Where does Sties originate?

Famous in the popular imagination, the stye has always been associated with some belief or invention, especially in childhood, when it was believed that by denying food to a pregnant woman a little ball in the corner of the eye would appear as a kind of punishment. The theme still yields myths and fanciful legends, and continues to generate frequent doubts among people.

Jokes aside, the little nuisance, which at first awakens astonishment and affliction, is in reality much more common than one might imagine, and arises without the need for fear and apprehension, given its magnitude. However, it is worth understanding about the provenance of this true enigma, which intrigues, to this day, many curious people.

What are the emotional causes of stye?

Although there is no consensus on this, many doctors consider a stye to be a "warning" that the body gives that anxiety and stress levels need to be decreased. It is as if our immune system is warning us of more serious problems that may befall us if we do not take care of our mental health.

The eyes are very susceptible to anxiety and stress. Symptoms such as eyelid twitching and even a burning sensation in the eyes at times of high psychological and emotional pressure are common in people who go through stressful situations, so it makes sense that the stye also has this origin.

The terçol, according to the Language of the Body

There is a technique, called Body Language, that relates all the physical ailments that befall us to problems related to our emotions. According to Cristina Cairo, the main proponent of this technique, the stye can originate from our insistence on carrying on with situations that we would no longer like to live.

She suggests that to prevent this from happening, we need to respect the way we are feeling by avoiding doing the exact opposite of what we want and think.

What are the spiritual causes of sties?

Just as physical and emotional reasons can cause a stye, spiritual imbalances can also cause this little problem. According to Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine, the eyes are connected to the liver, which is the organ that "stores" anger and resentment.

According to this alternative medicine, therefore, the stye may be related to grievances that we are carrying with us without the slightest need. It would prevent the appearance of new lesions if we worked on forgiveness to let go of this bitterness.

There are other possible spiritual meanings for the stye, which vary according to the eye in which the lesion appeared. Check them out:

- Sties in the right eye: It may also be related to situations that you have been trying to control, but over which you have no control.

- Sties in the left eye: The stye in the right eye is very much related to illusions, especially to situations that we are refusing to see or that we pretend are not happening. It is important to "open our eyes" and look around to avoid delusions, which are the consequence of illusion.

- Sties in both eyes: In addition to reinforcing the causes of the left eye and the right eye, it can indicate annoyance at being forced to do something or act in a way that is not ideal or your true desire. Realize what that situation is and whether there is anything you can do to avoid or resolve it.

All these causes can be responsible for this problem, but there is also the possibility of some influence of external negative energies, i.e., some evil or bad intention coming from someone. In this case, it is useful to seek spiritual help or even a bath or compress with herbs.

Just boil a liter of water and add a tablespoon of chamomile and a handful of rosemary. Besides the spiritual cleansing, both herbs have antibacterial action.

If you do the compress, be sure to wait until the water has warmed up enough, because the skin on the eyelids is very sensitive.

If you choose to bathe, take your bath as normal, and when you are done, pour the mixture over your head and allow it to run over your face and body. At the end, rinse yourself with water only.

Sties by Cristina Cairo

Cristina Cairo, author of the book Linguagem do corpo (Language of the Body), associates the origin of the stye to a state of anger and also to the annoyance of insisting on doing something that we really don't want to do anymore. The teacher and writer suggests avoiding this kind of feeling and attitude by respecting the way each one thinks and chooses to be happy, besides changing the direction whenever necessary.

The stye is caused by inflammation of the Zeiss and Mol glands, which are located on the outer part of the eyelids. It occurs due to an infection motivated by bacteria, known as Staphylococcus. However, other factors such as excess oiliness and malfunctioning of the sebaceous glands (located around the eyelashes) can contribute, in the same way, to its appearance.

What are the symptoms of a stye?

The signs of a stye start with a little pain, due to the sensitivity of the eye area. The signs are swelling of the eyelid, tearing, redness, sensitivity to light, blurred vision, and in some cases the presence of pus, usually characterized by a yellow spot in the corner of the eye.

How to cure a stye?

There is no specific treatment for the stye, since it usually heals itself, but some measures, such as warm water compresses and the use of eye drops indicated for the problem, help relieve the symptoms.

What is the internal stye?

The internal hordeolus, as it is called clinically, appears less frequently and has characteristics and features very similar to the external pinna. Also caused by Staphylococcus, the contamination at the site attacks the Meibomius glands, which are deeper in the eyelids. It is mostly considered painful, and its appearance resembles that of a pimple.

Although there is no risk of contagion, some actions can help to prevent its appearance, such as: removing make-up usually before going to sleep, washing your hands regularly, especially before putting in contact lenses. These are the proper procedures that will help fight the transmission of viruses and bacteria, not only the ones responsible for the sties.

Although it is not harmful, self-medication should be discarded, especially if the inflammation lasts too long or spreads to other areas of the eye. Visiting an ophthalmologist in these cases is more than recommended.
