Land of the Fishermen
Among the places linked to ecological tourism and nature, we cannot leave out the south of Quintana Roo, it has an important destination called “ Xcalak Marine Park”, which forms part of the barrier reef names “ Mesoamerican Reef System” which is considered the second largest barrier reef in the world.
A local favorite
Mahahual was a best-kept secret for decades by fishermen, who little by little started coming here. They were overwhelmed by the biodiversity of the deep blue waters, which are protected by the reef. They lived off different types of mussels, Lobster, and also the famous pink conch, or ” caracol” that is now a protected species in Mahahual.
