The Salt Doll

Once upon a time there was a salt doll. After wandering through barren lands, she discovered the sea and could not understand it. She asked the sea, "Who are you?"

And the sea answered, "I am the sea."

"But what is the sea?"

And the sea answered, "I am the sea."

"I don't understand," said the salt doll, "but I'd really like to understand, how do I do it?"

The sea replied, "Pull over to me."

Then the salt doll timidly touched the sea with the tips of her toes. She felt that she was beginning to understand, but she also felt that she had just lost her footing, dissolved in the water.

"Mar, what have you done?"

And the sea answered:

"I gave you a little bit of understanding and you gave me a little bit of you; to understand everything, it is necessary to give everything."

Eager for knowledge, but also afraid, the salt doll began to enter the sea. The more it entered and the more it dissolved, the more it understood the enormity of the sea and of nature, but something was still missing:

"What is the sea, anyway?"

Then she was covered by a wave. In her last moment of individual consciousness, before she was completely diluted in water, the doll still managed to say:

"The sea...the sea is me!"

"To be empathetic is to see the world through the other person's eyes and not see our world reflected in their eyes."

"Em.pa.ti.a (Greek empátheia, - as, passion) - psychological ability to feel what another person would feel if they were in the same situation experienced by them. It consists of trying to understand feelings and emotions, trying to experience objectively and rationally what the other individual feels."

To be empathetic is to immerse oneself in the other's universe completely and only then to be able to think like the other and understand him/her.

We don't see the other as a being with internal conflicts, just like us.

Life is so busy, we live on autopilot, like robots, but we are flesh and blood human beings, we have wants, desires, insecurities, frustrations, joys and sorrows, we are an endless well of feelings and we go through many internal conflicts. It's that story of being kind to the other person because we don't know what battles he or she is facing.

The gift of recognizing yourself in the other, of seeing yourself in the other with love. To perceive yourself in the other is to cleanse all your preconceptions, everything you think, to empty your mind, taking away all criticism, judgment, and analysis, so that you can receive the other's thoughts, the other's way of acting, and thus become the other. I am part of you and you are part of me.

We are all one!

Namaste!
