Ajna - All about the Frontal Chakra

Ajna - All about the Frontal Chakra

Tom Cross

The frontal chakra, or Ajna, also known as the light chakra or the third eye chakra, is the sixth of the chakras, the one related to our perception of the external world. It is also responsible for refining our inner vision.

In this article, you will learn a little more about this main element that connects us to both the past and the future. Come with us!

What does Ajna mean?

The term "ajna" comes from Sanskrit, and its meaning is "control" or "to command; to obey; to follow; to listen attentively" or even "the command center". It is the famous third eye, where Hindus usually put jewelry or paint a red bindi (colored dot), to highlight its strength.

Ajna is visually represented as a lotus flower with two white petals, resembling a winged circle. Each petal bears a Sanskrit letter written in white: ham (located on the left petal) and ksham (on the right petal).

At the center, in its seed, is the syllable OM, which is its bija mantra. OM is the supreme sound of the universe, containing all other sounds.

Bijas mantras are sacred sound vibrations that carry the power of a particular energy. When pronounced, these sounds potentiate, unblock, or activate the energy of the chakra to which they are connected.

Characteristics of the frontal chakra

Ajna is located in the middle of the forehead, between the eyebrows, above eye level. Its role is to send our commands to every part of the body. It is also responsible for our memory and imagination, since it is constantly activated through our vision.

This chakra is associated with the pituitary gland, which controls the parasympathetic nervous system - the part whose function is to make the body maintain a state of calm, satiety, digestion and rest.relaxation after a stressful situation).

Color, element and stone of the central chakra

There are several factors with which the chakras are associated and that help establish our balance or even potentiate the energies - the main ones are the color, the Element of nature, and the stone. Each chakra has its own.

The color of reflection

The frontal chakra's representative color is indigo blue, the only color in which no negative feelings predominate. It is anesthetic, relaxing and transmits confidence. It is connected to our powers on the mental plane, relating to our concentration, dignity and wisdom.

Blue is a very suitable color for meditation, and indigo helps us reach the depths of this practice, opening our inner vision. It is the color used to cure nervousness and insomnia, bring us balance and control obsessions, reinforcing our nervous system and having an effect on hearing and taste.

There are several ways to use color therapy to help balance the flow of energies in our body. As for the frontal chakra, two exercises help in this mission. The first suggests closing eyes, doing some breathing and imagining the indigo blue in the area associated with it, repeating the mantra OM three times. In the second exercise, the idea is to imagine ears, nose and brain energized by the color.a technique that helps clear our mind of all prejudices and obsessions.

No elements

Ajna has no corresponding element in the physical world. Some associate Light or Ether as its element, while others consider that, like the crown chakra, it is associated with all the elements.

Crystals and protection

Several crystals are associated with the frontal chakra, especially those of blue color: blue sapphire, azulite, turquoise, lapis lazuli, sodalite, aquamarine, and blue calcite.

Stones and crystals have the power to balance the chakras, besides being great helpers in restoring self-healing. Their action occurs through electromagnetism, and the vibrations they emit have the ability to purify, align, and activate the energy of the chakras, helping to strengthen their properties.

One way to use these elements to benefit the chakras is to do meditation with each stone placed exactly on the corresponding chakra, all aligned. Take care to keep them in this position for about 30 minutes, on average.

Don't forget to always clean your stone after use by rinsing it under running water. You can also recharge its energy by placing it under the sun for about 1 hour. Clean and energize your crystals whenever you find it necessary.

The use of the stone of your chakra allied to chromotherapy promotes the balance of your energies and also drives away bad vibrations in any situation or environment.

What happens when the frontal chakra is out of balance?

As we said above, there are several ways to harmonize and enhance our chakras, and this is very important, since health, physical, or emotional problems can take us off track, also unbalancing our energy centers.

If this chakra is unbalanced, we may experience feelings such as stubbornness, attachment, and selfishness. We become vulnerable to various addictions (drugs, alcohol, behavior, etc.), our emotional health is weakened, which can result in instability, we make wrong decisions, and we suffer from emotional lack of control.

Physically, we can suffer from rhinitis, vision and hearing problems, poor concentration, migraines, high blood pressure, dizziness, and nightmares.

When it is overstimulated, it can lead to an excess of mental energy, resulting in fatigue, extreme anxiety, and hallucinations. Now, if it is blocked or weakened, it can affect our ability to concentrate and remember, which can lead to apathy, a tendency to procrastination, and a lack of initiative and goals.

Therefore, achieving balance - neither too open, nor too blocked - is key to safeguarding our physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Balanced frontal chakra

The balance of this chakra allows us to sharpen our perception in relation to the Universe and guides us towards our perception, intuition and wisdom. When it works properly, our ability to concentrate is increased and ideas become clearer.

Our inner vision is intensified, which strengthens our power of intuition and clarity of ideas. As a result, we become better able to make decisions and act with confidence. In addition, our state of peace prevails.

In the physical aspect, the effects are also evident: the nervous system and vision are revitalized; the bloodstream is purified; the heartbeat and blood pressure are reduced.

Another great ally in this process is aromatherapy. For this chakra, essential oils help to rescue intuition and common sense, rebalancing the mental state and sleep. The most used are: patchouli, orange, geranium, juniper, bergamot, clary sage, lemon-sicilian, and laurel.

Without a doubt, everything we have mentioned in this article is essential for our chakras to remain balanced. But you can seek more ways to do more for your body. Take good care of it: eat properly, avoid exaggerating with alcohol, stay away from cigarettes, drink plenty of water, and exercise.

And what about taking care of your body and mind at the same time, through Yoga? This activity is strongly linked to the chakras. And to keep your thoughts at a level of good energy, try meditating. It really works! And for this chakra, nothing better than the self-knowledge that meditation provides.

Your body is your home, and it is within this home that you will remain until the end of your journey, there is no changing your home. So, as you go through life, take care of your body, keep your harmony and your health - physical and spiritual - up to date. Take care of yourself, preserve yourself, love yourself!

Getting to know the chakras

The chakras are energy centers connected along our spine. Their function is to receive and emit vital energy at specific points in our body. They act continuously, transferring these energies between our physical body and the material and spiritual planes. They are a form of nourishment for our aura.
